Throughout my life, I often considered myself overweight, even during times when I wasn't. My weight has fluctuated frequently, influenced by stress, injuries, emotions, and portion control. I've always tended to "eat my feelings" to fill what I perceived was missing in my life. As I approached my 60th birthday last year, I knew I needed to make a change. Although I've always been active, I realized that my food choices needed adjustment.
One day, I was listening to a friend's livestream, where she mentioned Walter Lewis, an amazing trainer. She offered to share his contact information, and I wasted no time—calling her right after the livestream to get in touch with Walter. I believe it was the very next day that I spoke with Walter. By the end of our conversation, I had downloaded his app, signed up for personal training sessions, and learned how to connect to his virtual bootcamp. Walter explained the program to me, recommending personal training sessions, virtual bootcamps, and the use of a nutrition app to hold me accountable for everything I ate and drank.
Given the distance between where I live and where Walter could train me, we agreed on one training session every other Friday. In between, I would participate in the virtual bootcamps. Initially, I was worried that one personal session every two weeks wouldn't be enough, but Walter assured me that if I followed the program and showed up consistently, I would succeed. Despite my doubts about the effectiveness of virtual bootcamps and bi-weekly sessions, I started the program on Friday, January 26th.
In less than five months, with Walter's guidance and encouragement, I've been able to fit back into clothes I hadn't worn in years. I've also managed to change my weight from 151 pounds to 136 pounds, which was a significant achievement for me, considering I'm only 5 feet tall. I'm now just 6 pounds away from my goal weight, and I have no doubt that with Walter's program and support, I'll shed those last few pounds.
One of the blessings of Walter's program is the flexibility of the virtual bootcamps. Since they are recorded, I can participate at a time that fits my busy schedule, without feeling like I've missed out. Even when I'm away, I can stay connected with Walter and the workout group. The camaraderie within the virtual bootcamps is incredible—I'm inspired by the successes, struggles, and dedication of others, whether they're traveling, in school, tired in the early morning, or just not feeling it that day. It feels like I've known this group for years, even though it's only been seven months.
I appreciate how Walter challenges us. If I tell him I'm going out of town, he'll say something like, "Okay, impress me by getting a walk in every day," or "Impress me by getting a walk and a workout in each day." The walking challenges have transformed my life, thanks to the push I get from him, my family, and my virtual bootcamp buddies. Meeting Walter Lewis and committing to his program has been one of the best decisions I've ever made. I'm proud of the progress I've made so far and look forward to reaching my goal and maintaining it—all because of Walter!
