My name is Susan, I’m 46 years old, and I started on my healthy living journey in March of 2015. At that time I was 215 lbs, a size 16, and my weight was starting to impact my life negatively. The physical aspects of my job as a dog groomer was starting to take a toll on my body, joint pain, back stiffness, and constant foot pain from standing all day. I have always been an active person, involved in various sports growing up, love walking my dogs, skiing and biking. During a February 2015 family ski trip, I couldn’t stay out for more than an hour at a time without taking a break. I have been a skier all my life, and loved it, but it just wasn’t fun anymore. That’s when I said enough is enough, I started a boot camp with Walter two weeks later!
During those first few weeks of boot camp, I felt like I was going to throw up a few times because of the intensity of the workouts. But then, as I started to build a little stamina, I started to see that maybe there was hope. I became more appreciative of my body and its capabilities, even though I was still “fat”, that’s when real changes started to happen. I then did a weight loss challenge with Walter, this is when I started managing my portions better, eating less meat and more fruits and vegetables. Walters suggestion of a fruit and vegetable cleanse, really helped me break my salty and sweet cravings. Now I’m participating in the body transformation program. I love being challenged in new ways during our classes!
Now a little over a year later, I’m down 57 lbs and a size 8, I feel amazing! My joints and back no longer hurt after a long day of work, and no more foot pain! And the 2016 family ski trip, was as much fun as it was when I was a kid. I skied all day! I truly feel like I’m thirty again!
